Thiago Seyboth Wild was born on March, 10, 2000, in Marechal Candido Rondon Parana, Brazil, to Claudio Ricardo Wild and Gisela Christine Seyboth. His father manages tennis academies, while his mother is a doctor. After beginning to play tennis at the age of 4, he moved to Rio de Janeiro as a 14-year-old and started to improve quickly.
Seyboth Wild was a very accomplished junior player. His most notable moment was winning the junior US Open title in 2018. He also reached the semifinal of the junior French Open, as well as the semifinals in the doubles at both the French Open and US Open.
After ending 2018 as the world No. 449, Seyboth Wild finished 2019 more than 200 places higher in the rankings at No. 211. This was principally due to claiming his first ATP Challenger Tour title in November of that year in Ecuador. He comfortably defeated Hugo Dellien in straight sets in the final.
Seyboth Wild then had a shock run to glory at the Chile Open in March 2020. Entering the tournament as a wildcard and with just two previous ATP Tour victories to his name, he defeated Facundo Bagnis and Juan Ignacio Londero in the opening two rounds.
That was followed by the No. 1 seed Cristian Garin retiring after the first set of their quarter-final due to an injury. The Brazilian set up a final with the future French Open runner-up Casper Ruud after hammering Renzo Olivo 6-1, 6-3. Seyboth Wild reigned supreme in Chile by overcoming the No. 2 seed 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, completing a thoroughly unexpected triumph.
Seyboth Wild's incredible moment in Chile was immediately followed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw tennis canceled for a few months. This seemed to disrupt his rhythm particularly badly. Poor results for the next two years led to Seyboth Wild dropping to No. 417 in the rankings by the end of 2022.
However, he rebounded superbly in 2023. Having only previously won that single Challenger Tour title in Ecuador, he amassed four of them in 2023 alone. All of these came on his favoured clay courts in Chile, Argentina, and two in Italy.
But the most notable moment of 2023 for Seyboth Wild was at the French Open. He overcame the No. 2 seed, Daniil Medvedev, in an epic five-set battle. That was followed by a win against Guido Pella, before exiting after losing another five-set contest against Yoshihito Nishioka.
Seyboth Wild rose an incredible 344 places in the space of 12 months to No. 73 at the end of 2023. The Brazilian had some hard-court success at the start of 2024. After almost defeating Andrey Rublev in another amazing five-set match at the Australian Open, he reached the third round at the Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami.
