From October 3rd until 9th the 2022 Japan Open will take place in Tokyo with some of the best players featured on the entry list.
Last time the event was held, Novak Djokovic defeated John Millman in the final. One year before that, in 2018, Daniil Medvedev bested home-crowd favourite Kei Nishikori and the list of champions includes also David Goffin, Nick Kyrgios, Stan Wawrinka, Kei Nishikori, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and many more that competed at the Japan Open in Tokyo before.
Some of the players will compete also in 2022 as Nick Kyrgios and Kei Nishikori are on the entry list. The Japanese player received a wild-card as he's making a come back after not playing since October 2021.
The top-seeded player at the event should be Casper Ruud. The Norwegian had great runs at the Roland Garros and US Open this year, what earned him enough points to be ranked so high. Alexander Zverev, who hasn't played since this year's Roland Garros, was supposed to compete in Tokyo too, but he eventually withdrew from the event.
The list of challengers is long and there are a lot of players capable of causing a surprise. Cameron Norrie and Taylor Fritz lead the list but also Alex de Minaur, Denis Shapovalov, Frances Tiafoe and Borna Coric will compete at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo.
