Coco Gauff was defending a lot of points for reaching the final in doubles last year at the US Open, but pairing up with Jessica Pegula, they lost already in the first round.

Opponents of the American duo were Canadian Leylah Fernandez and Australian Daria Saville. The match was one to watch as for a brief moment it seemed that Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula will seal the deal in two sets, but eventually the match tie-break in the third-set was needed to decide it.

At the start of it, the outsiders of the match led 4-0, but then the American duo won a series of points and so the scoreboard showed 5-5. Since then, Gauff and Pegula couldn't win any point and lost the match.

But their loss was also influenced by the argument with the chair umpire. Younger from the duo had an easy shot on the net which was already celebrated by the home crowd, when he called the let and ruled to replay the point. Both players rushed to complain, stating:

“She can’t call let!” Pegula protested, before she was joined by her doubles partner Gauff.

“It’s the second time! You’re taking points away from us… You’re stealing points from us,” said Gauff.

“She [Gauff] has a sitter right on top of the net. You did not call it until she [Saville] stopped. She yelled in the middle of a point, ‘Let!’, you can’t even f***ing do that,” added Pegula.
