It’s been quite some time since, then 14-year-old, Coco Gauff caused a sensation at Wimbledon. Four years later, she’s one of the favorites to win the 2022 US Open.

Although it seems like the young American has been on the WTA Tour for a very long time, she’s still only 18 years old and has plenty of experience compared to fellow teenagers.

She certainly has more experience than any other player of her age could have gained, and this year, she already played in her first singles Grand Slam final.

In the 2022 Roland Garros final, she lost to the huge favorite of the tournament, World No. 1, Iga Swiatek. However, in the meantime, the young American became the WTA World No. 1 player in doubles and played some solid lead-up matches before the last Grand Slam of the season.

The eleventh-seeded Coco Gauff will also not face a higher-seeded player until a possible semi-final clash with the fifth-seeded Ons Jabeur, as the majority of the seeded players in her part of the draw lost in the first two matches.

On the other hand, she played really well to beat Leolia Jeanjean and Elena-Gabriela Ruse without losing a set. So, is Coco Gauff ready to win her first Grand Slam title at the 2022 US Open?

Without a doubt, yes. Previously, Patrick Mouratoglou stated that she isn’t a player who would win something out of nowhere like Emma Raducanu did last year or Sofia Kenin a couple of years ago.

The 18-year-old American is one of the players who improve gradually and her rise in the WTA Rankings confirms that. This year, she can reach the Top 10 for the first time in her career, and especially good results at Grand Slam tournaments back her rise.

After playing her first singles Grand Slam final, Gauff has enough experience only at 18 years old to win the 2022 US Open. Moreover, she will be backed by the crowd in New York, who will want to see their player lifting the trophy.
