Earlier this year, Karolina Pliskova announced that she won't be working with coach Sascha Bajin anymore but that changed only after five months.
Pliskova didn't have a good year and when she was announcing her split with Bajin, she had a negative record (9-11) on the WTA Tour in 2022. After working for five months with Leos Friedl, the former Wimbledon finalist has decided to return to the coach that led her to the biggest success of her career.
"Many thanks to Leos, who willingly started working with us immediately. I think that under his guidance we managed to get some interesting results,” Karolina Pliskova stated.
“It was a challenge for me to train a player who has been one of the world’s top players for many years and I’m glad I could work with Karolina for those five months,” says her former 45-year-old Czech coach Friedl.
Also her former coach as well as former coach of Naomi Osaka, Kristina Mladenovic and Dayana Yastremska spoke about reuniting with the Czech player again.
“I am returning mainly because I still believe I can help Carolina with my insights. Her game has gradually improved since her hand injury and in my eyes she has proven that she can still compete with the best in the world. We will want to build on these performances and that is why we have decided to renew our connection! I can’t wait to sit in her corner again,” says Sascha Bajin.
On the 25th of December 2022, Karolina Pliskova should travel to Australia for the start of the 2023 season.
