Emma Raducanu will likely miss the 2023 US Open as the British player is not on the entry list for the event.
Raducanu has been away from tennis and the WTA Tour for a while now after undergoing triple surgery earlier this year. The former British number one saw her ranking drop as a result, as she's not the highest-ranked player from her country in the WTA Rankings anymore.
While being away from the sport, Raducanu has been largely missing from the spotlight, for the most part, because occasionally she attends a high-profile event. The Brit was, for example, at Wimbledon recently to greet fans.
It's still not known when the Brit will return to the courts though apparently, she's back to working on her tennis. Some have suggested that Raducanu will likely target a return at the US Open, but that seems unlikely after the event published an entry list without her name on it.
Raducanu hasn't officially spoken or given any indication as to whether she will play or not, but according to the entry list, we won't be seeing Raducanu at the Flushing Meadows. Now, her absence from the event isn't coming as a huge surprise to anyone because she never really provided an update on her surgeries.
There was no timetable for her return so everything was speculation and some have even suggested that the return process is going to be very complicated. One wrist surgery is complicated enough, let alone two of them. Add an ankle surgery to the whole mix, and then it becomes clear that this is not an ordinary rehab that she has to undergo.
She seems to be motivated according to some recent posts on Instagram with the caption saying that's she ready to go now. Whatever that seems, she seems to mostly enjoy the time off, and she should play in China in December.
