Coco Gauff unveiled an unknown detail about her New Balance CG2 sneakers, which include some easter eggs.
The young American player is one of the very few tennis players who were lucky enough to have their own sneakers during their playing career. The list of those athletes isn't too long and includes names such as Roger Federer.
Gauff has worked with New Balance since her early teenage years, and she's an important athlete for the brand. The 20-year-old is often the fact of many promotional campaigns, and she was also honored with her own personalized shoes.
The Coco CG1 shoes were a great success, and it was clear that Gauff and New Balance also put a great effort into making those shoes. There were many easter eggs involved, many of which Gauff herself confirmed and revealed.
For example, there was a quote that read: "You can change the world with your racquet." Another thing included on that pair of shoes were the coordinates to the tennis courts at Pompey Park, where Gauff grew up.
The Coco CG1 shoes had multiple colorways, and the American's own shoe was such a success that she and New Balance paired up to create the second generation of the Coco CG shoes.
Ahead of this year's US Open, the Coco CG2 shoes were revealed, and once again, there were many personal touches from Gauff, such as her name or her initials.
However, as she recently revealed on her Instagram story, there was one easter egg that many of her fans seemingly overlooked, as she never saw anything posted about it.
The 2023 US Open champion revealed that her initials are hidden on the soles of her shoes. The soles look like a maze, and within them, the letters C and G are both hidden.
"So as you guys know with my first shoe, CG1 with New Balance had a lot of easter eggs. On this shoe, I had my name, the co-ordinates of the park I grew uo playing tennis at, my parents sports on the back of the shoe."
"The CG2 has a little bit less easter egg, but they are still easter eggs, but there is particularly this one that I haven't seen anyone pick yet and I wanna show you."
"This egg is on the bottom of the shoe and it is actually my initials, so rught here, you'll see it's a C and here, its a G. So, when you hold it up, its actually like CG. And there is this obvious CG right there on the bottom of the shoe."
Sporting her own shoes, Gauff will begin the 2025 season at the United Cup, representing the United States with Taylor Fritz, who she paired up with in the mixed doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Gauff will want to start the season victoriously, as in the early months of the 2025 season, she will have a chance to become the World No. 1 player on the WTA Tour, mostly thanks to her amazing end of the 2024 season.
