After failing to defend points in Madrid, Aryna Sabalenka dropped to the eighth place of the WTA Rankings, and it looks like she wants to return to the top as soon as possible.

Aryna Sabalenka didn't have a good start of the season when she didn't get any significant result and her win rate was around 50%. After losing in the first round of the 2022 Madrid Open, she lost 1000 points that she was defending from last year, and massively dropped in the WTA Rankings. However, at the 2022 Italian Open in Rome, she is showing that she really wants to return back.

It started with a 6-2, 6-0 victroy against Shuai Zhang the second round. Now, in the third round, the Belarusian defeated Jessica Pegula 6-1, 6-4 in an hour and 7 minutes to move to the quarterfinals of the 2022 Italian Open.

She was better player on the court on Thursday as she hit 9 aces and was successful 6 out of 8 times when she had a breakpoint. On the other hand, when facing a breakpoint, she turned it away 5 out of 7 times. In the quarterfinals, she can face the player that sent her home from the 2022 Madrid Open - Amanda Anisimova as the American will play against Danielle Collins for the spot in the quarterfinals.
