Coco Guaff will face Iga Swiatek in the WTA Roland Garros final at 15:00 CET on Saturday and it's a match she is looking forward to.
Coco Guaff flashed her clay prowess last year by reaching the quarterfinal but she returned with even more hunger this year playing some superb tennis. She got a bit lucky with the draw as well but nonetheless her place in the final is well deserved. There she will play the number one Iga Swiatek who dominated her way to the final as well.
It's something of a dream for her:
"I always wanted to play her in a final - I just didn't think it would happen so soon."
She also demonstrated a very healthy view of the opportunity explaining :
"I think there's a fine line between believing in yourself and almost pushing yourself too much. If I do lift the trophy, honestly, I don't think my life is going to change really. The people who love me are still going to love me regardless if I lift the trophy or not."
Winning the Roland Garros is something she has already done before albeit it happened in the junior category back in 2018.
She also crediter her family for helping her be here:
"I feel like I put myself in a bubble to the point where it was like tennis, tennis, tennis, tennis. Talking to my family in general, my grandmother is always like there is more to life than this. Since I was younger my dad told me I could change the world with my racquet. He didn't mean that by just playing tennis. He meant speaking out on issues like this."
