The 2023 Thailand Open in Hua Hin is quickly approaching, and fans are excited to see which player will take home the trophy this year.
With a strong entry list, the tournament is sure to be an exciting event, despite being held right after the first Grand Slam tournament of the season. Magda Linette was supposed to be one of the strong contenders at the Thailand Open as the reigning champion of the event, which was last held in 2020, and an Australian Open semifinalist, but also because of her deep run in Melbourne, she withdrew from the event.
The other two players that were projected to be seeded among the top three, Ajla Tomljanovic and Marie Bouzkova also withdrew from the event and so the field became significantly weaker. However, former world no. 4 and 2019 US Open champion, Bianca Andreescu, received a wild card and she will be the first-seeded player in Hua Hin.
Tatjana Maria will also be looking to make a splash at the Thailand Open. The German player played in the Wimbledon semifinals in 2022 and showed that she's a dangerous competitor also after becoming a mother.
Harriet Dart will want to establish herself as one of the top British players in 2023, and this event can help her in doing so. Many players ranked outside of Top 100 will also have a chance to show their qualities in Hua Hin thanks to a lot of withdrawals.
Heather Watson, Mirjam Bjorklund, and Katie Boulter will all compete at the 2023 Thailand Open. Moreover, one of the wild cards was awarded to former doubles world no. 1, Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
