The Hobart International is a popular WTA 250 event that takes place annually in Hobart, Australia and in 2023 it will be played for the first time since 2020.
The tournament is held in the lead-up to the Australian Open and attracts some of the top players in the world. The 2023 Hobart International, which is set to take place from January 9 to 14, 2023, will feature an exciting entry list that includes a mix of established stars and rising talents.
One player to watch is Marie Bouzkova, who has been making waves on the WTA Tour in recent years. The Czech player is currently ranked No. 24 in the world and should be the highest-seeded player at the event.
Another top player to keep an eye on is Elise Mertens, who is currently ranked No. 29 in the world. The Belgian is a two-time champion in Hobart as she triumphed in 2017 and successfully defended her title in 2018.
Alize Cornet is another notable name on the entry list for the 2023 Hobart International and she will be joined by the likes of Anhelina Kalinina, Bernarda Pera, Magda Linette and Xiyu Wang.
A couple of Grand Slam champions received a wild-card for the event and even further strengthened the line-up. Sofia Kenin and Sloane Stephens will both compete in Hobart and try to improve their rankings at this WTA 250 event.
The Hobart International has not been held since 2020 when Elena Rybakina emerged as the champion when she defeated Shuai Zhang in the final to claim her second WTA Tour title. With a strong field set to compete in 2023, it will be interesting to see who will rise to the top and take home the trophy this time around.
