Although Adelaide International 2 will only be staged for the second time, the event has a lengthy history in Adelaide.
Following the success of the Adelaide International 1 event, a second one has been added which will take place from January 9 to 14. Madison Keys is the only winner of this competition; she claimed victory in 2022 and will defend her crown in 2023 as well.
But this time, she will have a much more difficult task. The 2023 Adelaide International 2 is a WTA 500 event, and therefore many Top 10 players will compete in Australia. World no. 1 Iga Swiatek was set to play but eventually withdrew from the event. However, no. 2 Ons Jabeur and no. 3 Jessica Pegula will compete in Adelaide.
The 2022 WTA Finals champion and world no. 4 Caroline Garcia will also be there and she will be joined by Russians Daria Kasatkina and Veronika Kudermetova.
A few players from the entry list that can wreck a havoc are Belinda Bencic, Paula Badosa and Anett Kontaveit, who will all hope to climb up the WTA Rankings again after previous drop.
