The 2022 Citi Open in Washington will start on August 1st and the final will be played on August 7th as WTA Tour will return to the capital after three years.
Jessica Pegula is the last champion in Washington and the American will be the first-seeded in 2022. She will start her tournament against compatriot Hailey Baptiste. There will be one more former champion in the draw as Sloane Stephens will make an appearance.
She will kick-off the tournament against Ajla Tomljanovic. But there will be many more Americans in the draw. Sofia Kenin is making her comeback and she will play against Camila Osorio in the first round.
If she wins, she will face a difficult task in the second round. Emma Raducanu is the second-seeded in Washington and if she beats Maria Bouzkova in the first round, we can see a match of two Grand Slam champions in the second round.
But there will be one player that is more experienced than any other player in the draw. Venus Williams is also making her comeback and she will play against a qualifier in the first round. The third-seeded Simona Halep will also begin against a qualifier and the draw is packed with star names.
