The Citi Open in Washington, which will run from August 1–7 in 2022, is the first ATP 500 event on hard courts since February.

Jannik Sinner won the Citi Open in Washington last year after defeating Mackenzie McDonald in the championship match, but he shouldn't be playing in 2022. In contrast, previous champions Nick Kyrgios and Kei Nishikori ought to participate as the Japanese player will be attempting to gain some significant ATP Rankings points during his comeback.

And the ATP 500 event in Washington will be a great opportunity to do that. While players that lose in the first round don't get any points and get only $7,620, for getting into the second round, players are awarded 20 points and $14,280. Players that exit the tournament in the third get 45 points and $26,095.

The champion of the event will get 500 points and $342,800 and the finalist will get almost half of it as he will earn $182,825 and 300 points. Semifinalists at the 2022 Citi Open will be awarded with 180 points and $94,840.
