The ATP Masters 1000 tournament is held in Canada from August 7–14, bringing back a very solid line-up to Montreal after three years.
ATP and WTA players alternate playing in Montreal and Toronto each year and therefore Canada hosts one of the most interesting Masters 1000 tournaments. The ATP Tour didn't stop in Montreal in 2020 due to the cancellation of the event, but it will do so in 2022 with Rafael Nadal as the most recent winner in Montreal.
However, Daniil Medvedev is the last to triumph at the Canada Masters as he triumphed in Toronto last year. This year, he defends his 1000 points that are awarded to a champion as well as $915,295 in prize money.
The beaten finalist will get 600 points and almost half a million dollars. For getting through the first round, players get 45 points and $42,760 what is a great reward especially for the lower-ranked players. Players who lose in the third round get 90 points and $79,745 and quarterfinalists earn $149,085 and 180 points.
