It seems that Novak Djokovic and his team are using another interesting tactic at the 2023 Australian Open, which includes water bottles.
Previously, the 21-time Grand Slam champion was questioned about his water bottles, when he received a mysterious drink at the Paris Masters last year. Back then, fans were wondering what was inside the bottle that Djokovic received from his coaching team, as they were really privy about it.
Back then, his wife Jelena defended him, stating: "I don’t see anything dodgy. In fact, I see people trying to be private about their business in a world where everyone feels like they have every right to point camera at you whenever they want. Apparently, wanting/trying to be private makes you dodgy nowadays."
This time, the controversy doesn't include what's inside of the bottle, but rather what's outside. During his matches at the Rod Laver Arena, the Serbian received a water bottle from his team, that included a note.
It's not clear what the note included and whether this type of coaching would be allowed by the event in the future, or if they are going to take measures.
Tennis organizations took a different approach to coaching in 2023, as they allowed it at Grand Slam tournaments, however, it needs to follow specific rules.
