Daniil Medvedev is one of the most honest players on the ATP Tour and he showed it also following his loss at the 2022 Paris Masters.

The Russian took on Alex de Minaur from Australia and lost in three sets after finishing the match with a double fault. Following his loss, Daniil Medvedev talked about the umpire, which in his opinion "didn't do a good match". However, as always, former world no. 1 tried to express his opinion but remain polite while doing so.

“De Minaur played very well. He didn’t miss much. He did the right choice many times. I had my chances, didn’t use them. So credit to him,” Medvedev said after the match.

“I was not at all talking to the umpire about the crowd. In my opinion, the crowd was nice, supporting both players, 50/50, always nice. In my opinion, the umpire didn’t do a good match, but I’m not criticising."

Trying to draw similarities between the performance of a tennis player and performance of an umpire, the 2021 US Open champion said:

“It’s like, he did a bad match like I can do a bad match, for example. At the end my attitude was not good enough. I can admit it. But in my opinion, he didn’t make a good match."
