Last year, Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the final of the Roland Garros and he will try to replicate or even improve his result this year.

Although he eventually started his 2022 Roland Garros campaign successfully, for a brief moment it looked like Stefanos Tsitsipas might be out of the tournament already in the first round this year as he took on very inspired Lorenzo Musetti.

When speaking about favourites for the tournament this year, the young Greek didn't include himself in the list, but certainly he will be one of the biggest challengers as second part of his first round match was a pure spectacle.

It was a great start in the French capital for Lorenzo Musetti. After winning 10 out of 14 matches played on clay in 2022, he came back from 1-4 down in the first set to earn a quick lead against his more experienced colleague. In the second set, the Italian quickly got two breaks and although he was once broken back, he still managed to win the set 6-4 and led already 2-0 against his Greek opponent.

However, it seemed that the later it got, the better Stefanos Tsitsipas played as he won 12 out of the first 13 points in the third set and dominated throughout the set as he won 6-2 hitting 13 winners and only 2 unforced errors.

His brilliant performance continued also in the fourth and fifth set. In the 4th set, he also broke Musetti twice and despite being also broken once, he still won the set 6-3. The deciding set began already after midnight in Paris as the world number four continue in his almost flawless performance, hitting 12 winners and just 3 unforced errors and eventually winning the match 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
