Jannik Sinner remains at No. 1 in the latest ATP rankings, but his lead has been slightly reduced, while Ben Shelton moved up a few places after his efforts at the Vienna Open.

Sinner was the defending champion at the Vienna Open before this week's 2024 iteration. He overcame Daniil Medvedev in an exhilarating three-set match last year in Austria to claim the title.

However, the Italian chose not to defend his title at the tournament. That may have been because he played at the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia from October 16th to 19th, which did not give him a chance to prepare for the event in Vienna.

Sinner's decision to play at the lucrative exhibition led to him collecting the largest paycheck in tennis history, $6 million, for winning the Six Kings Slam, although the 23-year-old insisted recently that he does not play for money.

The US Open champion's lead in this week's ATP rankings was cut by 500 points because he did not defend the points he earned in Vienna. That means his current total is 11,420.

Despite his lead now being slightly less, Sinner has already been confirmed as the year-end No. 1, and he was the fastest man to achieve that feat since Novak Djokovic's dominant 2015 season.

Carlos Alcaraz remains at No. 2, 4,300 points behind Sinner. The Spaniard retained that position after Alexander Zverev's loss to Lorenzo Musetti in the Vienna Open quarterfinals.

The Top 10 is unchanged from last week, with Zverev at No. 3, Novak Djokovic at No. 4, and Daniil Medvedev at No. 5. That could all change next week after the Paris Masters, though.

Jack Draper reached a new career-high ranking after his superb run to the Vienna Open title. The Briton jumped from No. 18 to No. 15, overtaking Lorenzo Musetti, Frances Tiafoe, and Ugo Humbert.

That is undoubtedly a proud moment for Draper, but he has ambitions to go much higher. After winning the title in Vienna, the 22-year-old outlined how he wanted to shake things up with Sinner and Alcaraz in 2025.

Ben Shelton is back in the Top 20 after reaching the final of the Swiss Indoors in Basel. The huge-serving Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard beat him to the title, but finishing as the runner-up was still good enough for Shelton to rise from No. 23 to No. 19.

Mpetshi Perricard's heroics in Basel made him the biggest mover of the week, rising from No. 50 to No. 31. That is an incredible achievement for a man who started 2024 outside the Top 200.

Felix Auger-Aliassime paid the price for being unable to defend his Swiss Indoors title. He fell from No. 19 to No. 27 and will not have a chance to rectify the situation after withdrawing from the Paris Masters with a back injury.

Other ATP rankings changes this week include Karen Khalchanov rising to No. 21 after being the runner-up to Draper in Vienna and Denis Shapovalov jumping 15 places from No. 95 to No. 80.
