While the 2022 season is still in progress, tournaments that start early next year are already building their line-ups to provide a strong start of the season.

And so does the ASB Classic in Auckland that should welcome a lot of big names in 2023. While the WTA event starts already on January 2nd, the ATP tournament will be played from January 9th until 14th, ahead of the first Grand Slam of the season, which starts on 16th.

In a preparation for the first major of the season, Casper Ruud, Cameron Norrie and Holger Rune will all play at the 2023 ASB Classic in Auckland. This tournament was not held in 2021 and 2022, but in 2022, Ugo Humbert won over Benoit Paire in the final and he's technically a defending champion.

Speaking about the young Dane, who signed up for the event, tournament director Nicolas Lamperin said:

"We have been targeting young players on the rise in world tennis, and we are very excited that Holger has agreed to play in Auckland," said Tournament Director, Nicolas Lamperin. "Holger is arguably the best tennis product to come out of Denmark and is proving an exciting young player on the rise."

"He only broke into the top 100 this year, and has beaten the likes of Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas, both in the top-six ranked world players, along the way. He has a fantastic allround game and is equally strong on hard courts and clay and is sure to be a major threat in the ASB Classic."
