Last year, Andrey Rublev defeated Andy Murray in the final of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, and he will be back in Abu Dhabi to defend the title this year.

The Mubadala World Tennis Championship is a popular exhibition event held during the off-season. In 2022, it will be held already for the 14th time, and again, the Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi will host the tournament.

In 2022, the exhibition in Abu Dhabi will be held from December 16th to 18th, and the field for the tournament is starting to shape up. At the moment, five out of eight players have already been announced.

Rublev won the title last year, and in 2022, the Russian player plans to return to the United Arab Emirates to defend his trophy in Abu Dhabi.

"Last year's event was memorable, firstly to see the return of the Championship after the rebound of live events and, secondly, because of the top-class tennis on display."

John Lickrish, who is the CEO of Flash Entertainment, was naturally happy to welcome another high-ranked player to the player's field. But Rublev isn't the only addition.

"Andrey was a worthy winner so it's great that we have secured his return alongside the next generation of superstars Carlos, Casper, Ons and Emma. The 14th edition is shaping up to be a very exciting three days of action on and off the court."

Casper Ruud, who played two Grand Slam finals in 2022, will join last year's champion and the youngest World No. 1 player in the history of men's tennis, Carlos Alcaraz, at the 2022 Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

"I'm really looking forward to visiting Abu Dhabi for the first time to contest the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. It's been a tournament on my radar for some time and I know that the level of tennis is going to be of the highest quality. I'm excited to be involved and play in front of my fans over there in the UAE."
