Daniil Medvedev's former coach Jene-Rene Lisnard named him the 3rd best player in the world after Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Given that Medvedev is frequently ranked as the third-best player in the world, his former coach's assertion is not all that surprising. Although the French coach is amazed by what Nadal and Djokovic can accomplish at their age, he also believes that Medvedev is the most reliable player out of the rest.

"Let's not forget who he lost these matches to - Djokovic, Nadal. These guys are just stronger. Even at 35-36 years old, they are able to be at the top of tennis. Daniil is the strongest after them, since he is the most stable of the next generation" explained Lisnard who did not mention Alcaraz who has been the breakout player of the year.

Lisnard openly acknowledged the inadequacies of his player while also admiring him and thought that if he had been competing at the peak of the big three, he would not have won a grand slam.

"In my opinion, if Medvedev had fallen into the generation of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, then perhaps he would have had zero Slams in his career. The three of them and Andy Murray were head and shoulders above all." concluded Lisnard.
