Daniil Medvedev will be playing back-to-back ATP finals as he defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime at the 2023 Qatar Open in Doha.

Last week, the former world no. 1 defeated Jannik Sinner in the 2023 Rotterdam Open final, defeating Auger-Aliassime on his way to the final. In Doha, the Canadian had a chance for revenge, as the two met once again, this time in the semifinals.

Entering the match, Medvedev was looking to extend his seven-match winning streak, while his opponent wanted to get a shot at his first title of 2023, after winning four titles last year.

In the match between two guys with big serves, Medvedev started in the best way possible. He broke his opponent's serve in the first game and carried the advantage throughout the set.

However, he couldn't serve it out as Auger-Aliassime broke back. Yet, the Russian added one more break to win the first set 6-4 in 52 minutes.

Medvedev was the first player to break also in the second set. But again, the Canadian broke back and this time, the set had to be decided in a tie-break. Auger-Aliassime had three set points to take the match into the third set, but Medvedev used his only match points to win the match 6-4, 7-6(7) and advance to the second final in two weeks.

In the final, he will take on another former world no. 1, Andy Murray, who will be attempting to win his first ATP title since 2019.
