Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas faced off in the 2023 Australian Open final, which was the least watched in a decade.

Tennis viewership has been declining for years, particularly as the big three have played less frequently than in years prior. Similar trends may be seen in the crowds at events, with generally lower attendance across the board.

According to data published by ESPN, this year's final was watched by 400.000 people which is the least watched in the last 10 years. One thing that might have attributed to the low numbers was the time of the match which took place in the early morning hours.

Even so, last year's final between Nadal and Medvedev drew 689.000 which is significantly higher than this year. Most of that is due to Nadal's popularity which is higher than that of Djokovic. A similar trend was observed in Australian media as well with the numbers lower there as well.

The event itself set a new attedance record with 839,192 total visitors.
