The 2023 ASB Classic in Auckland is shaping up to be a highly competitive event with a strong field of players set to take the court.

The tournament, which is an ATP 250 event, will take place from January 9th to 14th, just days before the start of the Australian Open on the 16th, and it will be held for the first time since 2020 when Ugo Humbert started the season with a surprising triumph.

The highest-ranked player in 2023 is Norwegian star Casper Ruud, who is currently ranked no. 3 in the world. Ruud had a solid 2022 season when he reached 2 Grand Slam finals. He'll be looking to continue his momentum at the ASB Classic and potentially make a run at the title.

Also in the mix is Danish player Holger Rune, who is currently ranked no. 11 in the world and just missed out on the Top 10 finish last year. He will try to improve his form before the first major after he lost to Yoshihito Nishioka in Adelaide.

British player Cameron Norrie will also be a threat at the ASB Classic. Norrie had a solid start to the season, representing his country at the inaugural United Cup and beating the 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.

Other top contenders include Argentine star Diego Schwartzman and Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik. Both players showed their qualities before and will be looking to make their mark at the ASB Classic.

The overall prize pool for the tournament is $713,495, with the winner set to receive 250 points and $97,760.
