From August 1st until 7th, the ATP Tour will move to Washington for the 2022 Citi Open, an ATP 500 event in the US capital.
Jannik Sinner is the defending champion but the Italian isn't in the draw for the 2022 Citi Open in Washington. On the other hand, last year's finalist, Mackenzie McDonald will start against Emil Ruusuvuori and he can meet the second-seeded Hubert Hurkacz in the second round.
But there will be one defending champion in the draw. Nick Kyrgios triumphed in Washington in 2019 and the Australian will attempt to add a second title in the capital as he will begin his 2022 campaign against Marcos Giron.
Andy Murray is also in the draw. The Scot will start against Mikael Ymer and if he wins, former world number 1 will play against Aslan Karatsev. The first-seeded player at the event is Andrey Rublev as he will prepare for Stefan Kozlov or Jack Draper in the second round.
The first 16 players in Washington have a bye in the first round and so Taylor Fritz, Denis Shapovalov, Holger Rune, Grigor Dimitrov, Reilly Opelka and many more will have time to prepare for their second-round opponents.
