Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula will lead Team USA at the United Cup and both agreed that they have a good chance with the team they have.
The United States brought together a superbly talented group of players for the United Cup being the only team that has four players ranked in the top 20 there. Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe will lead the team towards the trophy.
"I think we have a great team," said Tiafoe during media day. "Hopefully we can win it. Hopefully Taylor, Jess and Madi can carry me. It's easy to compete when it's not about you," added the American.
The team was in great spirits during the press conference being very confident in their ability to play good tennis and a lot of them have done really well in Australia traditionally.
"It would have been nice to have more time to dive back into the new season but I'm ready to go," added a more careful Fritz. "It's always fun to start with a team competition. We have an extremely strong team."
Pegula echoed what Fritz said noting the short turnaround between seasons but she's ready to go as she had enough time for her:
"It's always a tough turnaround but I think the guys had even less time. For me, it felt like it was enough. Starting the year with a team event it's a different energy, maybe more relaxed, more of a fun atmosphere, a little less stressful."
