US team is one of the favourites at the 2022 United Cup and they are showing it from Day 1.
In the first two matches, Taylor Fritz defeated Jiri Lehecka and Madison Keys bested Marie Bouzkova. Without any major problems, the American team beat the Czech Republic in both ATP & WTA meetings and they are on their way to winning the tie before the last three matches that will be played on Friday.
There was a very good mood among the members of the US team after the first two wins as Taylor Fritz said: “In a team event, first match of the year, there are always some nerves coming out, so it is great to come out and get the team ahead,” Fritz said. “Hopefully loosen everyone else up. It is a tough position to play if behind, so it is really good for the team.”
Keys, was also satisfied, stating: "I've known all these friends for a really long time so it's great to get to compete together in a format that we've never got to compete in together," Keys said. "So far so good. Excited to cheer on Frances and Jessica tomorrow."
The good mood was seen also on the court as Frances Tiafoe jokingly asked Keys for an autograph after she won her match. Joking about the interaction on social media, Keys wrote: "Loooove being back in Australia… the fans are amazing here."
