Iga Swiatek demolishes another opponent to kick-off Stuttgart campaign

Women's world number 1 Iga Swiatek has been unstoppable in the past few weeks as she stretched her winning streak to 20 after another victory.

The last match that Iga Swiatek lost in the 2022 season was at the 2022 Dubai Championships when she lost to Jelena Ostapenko. However, then she went on to win the Qatar Open, Indian Wells, and Miami Open. Now, the Polish youngster started her campaign at the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.

Iga Swiatek won 28 out of 31 matches she played in the 2022 season, and they were all played on the hard court. However, the 2020 Roland Garros champion just started the clay-court season, and it looks like she will be the hottest favourite to win the Roland Garros also this year.

Swiatek lost only one game in the last five sets she played. First, she finished the final match at the Miami Open against Naomi Osaka with a bagel (6-0). Then, she defeated Mihaela Buzarnescu at the Billie Jean King Cup 6-1, 6-0, and also her compatriot Andreea Prisacariu 6-0, 6-0.

Although Swiatek's second-round opponent in Stuttgart has already played three matches at the event, it didn't help her to achieve a better performance against Swiatek, as the Pole was just too good to overcome for Eva Lys.

World number 1 started the match by winning the first 5 games and despite having a set point in the 6th game to win the set 6-0, she didn't manage to convert it and won the set 'only' 6-1.

In the second set, the story was very similar, Swiatek got quickly a 5-0 lead again and had a match point, however, she couldn't convert it again to win the set 6-0 and so the 2020 Roland Garros champion triumphed 6-1, 6-1 in a bit more than an hour.
