Iga Swiatek showed how strong she currently is when she defeated Mihaela Buzarnescu 6-1, 6-0 in less than an hour at the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup.

The Polish youngster lost only three matches during the 2022 season so far, and it looks like she doesn't plan to lose any more. After Ashleigh Barty retired from professional tennis, the Pole became the new world no. 1 on the WTA Tour, and she seems to be on course to keep the spot for the weeks to come.

In her first match in the Billie Jean King Cup tie against Romania, Iga Swiatek was almost flawless again when facing Mihaela Buzarnescu. After Magda Linette defeated Irina-Camelia Begu in the first match of the tie, Swiatek wanted to secure a second win.

That didn't seem to be a problem at any point of the match, as the Pole dominated from start to finish. She lost only one game against Buzarnescu, beating her opponent 6-1, 6-0 to increase Poland's lead to 2-0.

It will be the world no. 1 who will get a chance to also secure the country's win in this tie of the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Qualfiers, which is played at the Radomskie Centrum Sportu in Radom, Poland on the hard courts.

After her first win, Swiatek talked about the confidence, which is very important for every player. The Pole highlighted how she deflects the pressure and puts it on her opponents.

"I’m much more confident right now. I feel like I have grown up for sure. I’ve developed every aspect of my game. The streak that I have on the WTA Tour has given me so much confidence that right now I can just put pressure on my opponents and that’s really a privilege. I’ll be working on my new position as well and I hope to stay there for a while."
