Maria Sakkari got close to winning a title twice in 2022 season, and she will try to break the series of lost finals at the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.

It would be a great place for Maria Sakkari to break this streak as the winner of the tournament gets points for the WTA Rankings, nice prize money but most importantly new Porsche.

The Greek is the fourth seeded at the tournament and will play Laura Siegemund or Tamara Zidansek in the second round.

Ahead of the tournament, Sakkari spoke to the press when and shed light on her preparation for the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart, which serves as a switch to the clay courts after the Sunshine Double.

"I had a week off after Miami, so that really helped me to just get back on the tennis court, being excited for the clay season. I have to be deadly honest that this is probably my favorite swing of the season and I feel good."

The Greek player also analyzed how the switch to clay would play out, predicting that her opponents are going to come out hitting big, something that she will need to adjust to.

"I think on clay, you have to be very athletic and fit because points are long and matches can last very long. I like to hit my forehand just heavy and spinny, but there's not a lot of difference in the game style than playing on a hard court because you still have to be aggressive. Everyone's going to come out and just hit big.
"So I'm just doing small adjustments, like the height over the net in both shots, but still trying to approach the net a lot, and maybe kicking the serve a little bit more depending on who I play. But still just going after my serve and after my shots."
