Bianca Andreescu last played in Toronto in 2019 winning the event now in 2022 she is excited to return to the venue.

Andreescu practically grew up on these courts as the Canadian grew up in the Toronto Metropolitan area. One of the highlights of her career so far came in 2019 when she lifted the trophy in that city and now in 2022, she will have a chance to do so again.

Andreescu is enjoying a fairly solid comeback season finally free of injuries and enjoying tennis once again. Speaking about playing in Toronto again Andreescu said:

"I definitely feel more confident, than for instance, if I came back last year, in Toronto especially. Because it is different playing in Montreal and Toronto. Toronto, I feel like, it's just the memories that I have here."

Speaking further she expanded about what the venue means to her:

"I literally grew up on these courts so maybe I put more pressure on myself because I really want to do well here in Toronto. But I do feel good physically, and mentally, and my whole approach to everything is just better. I do feel like I can do really well in this tournament."

It was a hard period for Andreescu but also one she thinks was worth going through. She learned a lot and she's feeling good and enjoying tennis again.

Last year was super, super hard for me but I learned a lot about myself. I do feel better in my own skin and it definitely wouldn't have happened if I didn't go through what I went through the last couple of years. Even with injuries, it was super hard being away from the sport but it was definitely worth it because of how I'm feeling now.
