Coco Gauff is off to a strong start in the 2023 season, making it to the semifinals of the ASB Classic in Auckland.

This marks her first WTA semifinal appearance since June 2022, when she fell to Ons Jabeur at a grass-court event in Berlin. Prior to that, she had reached the final of Roland Garros, where she lost to Iga Swiatek, who claimed her second major.

Gauff, who is the highest seed at the ASB Classic, has had a dominant run so far, defeating Tatjana Maria and Sofia Kenin in straight sets. She continued her winning streak with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Lin Zhu in just an hour and 17 minutes.

She has been a dominant player throughout the match as she hit 8 aces and won 89% of points after her first serve. Moreover, she never faced a break point and converted 3 out of 13 opportunities she had to break her opponent.

This is a promising start for the young American, who will surely be looking to continue her success at the upcoming Australian Open. Before that, she will play against winner of the match between Viktoria Kuzmova and Danka Kovinic in the semifinals.

With her impressive performance at the ASB Classic, Gauff has definitely put herself on the radar as a player to watch in the upcoming Grand Slam. It will be exciting to see what the rest of the 2023 season has in store for her.
