Caroline Garcia wasted no time in reigniting Franco-British rivalry by smacking Emma Raducanu comfortably at Wimbledon.

The British player looked strong in round one but today she was outplayed by a player who was ranked in the top 10 a couple of years ago. Garcia has a lot of talent but she was never able to follow up her breakout with consistent play. Recently, on grass, she started finding some of that form she had earlier when she was ranked inside the top 10.

Taking the ball early and attacking, Garcia jumped out to an early break but failed to hold onto it. Raducanu was able to get back into the match despite not being able to assert her aggressive play in most rallies. It didn't last long as Gracia found angles and chances. She ventured to the net quite often finishing off points with volleys. It worked for the 6-3 opening set finish.

The 2nd set still featured strong play from Garcia who was the first player to get the break. Raducanu was able to battle back and make it 3-3 but lost her serve once again giving Garcia the 4-3 lead. Garcia held her nerve for the 5-3 lead. She sent a lot of balls on the backhand and it did not hold up well.

The French player finished it off with 6-3 in the final set to move on.
