The 2023 WTA Finals awaited the final date and destination for a very long time, but now we know it will be held in Cancun, Mexico.
The players that are fighting for the spots in the 2023 WTA Finals had to wait until September to find out where will be the year-end championship held. Many were not happy about it, but the decision is finally here.
As of now, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina qualified for the 2023 WTA Finals, and they can all bookmark October 29th to November 5th, 2023, in their calendars, as those are the dates when the 2023 WTA Finals will be held in Cancun, Mexico.
WTA CEO and Chairman, Steve Simon, was very happy to announce Cancun as the final tournament destination, but many players probably won't be so happy as only two days after the event's conclusion, the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Finals are held in Seville, on the other side of the world.
"I would like to extend my appreciation to the Cancun tournament organizers GS Sports Management for their commitment in hosting the WTA Finals this year. This edition of the WTA Finals will provide a fantastic experience for players and fans alike, offer a fitting finale for the 2023 Hologic WTA Tour and enable us to continue building a strong future for women’s tennis."
Gustavo Santoscoy Arriaga and Gustavo Santoscoy Garcia of GS Sports Management were obviously happy that the 2023 WTA Finals will be held in Cancun, Mexico, and they will want to follow the previous success of the WTA Finals which were held in Guadalajara in 2021.
"After the success of the WTA Finals in Guadalajara in 2021, we are now thrilled to bring this prestigious event to Cancun in 2023. Cancun is a magnificent destination, and we’re eager for the tennis world to experience its beauty. It’s an exciting new chapter for us and for tennis enthusiasts everywhere."
