'Totally Different' Alcaraz Targeting Djokovic Final At US Open

by Evita Mueller

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are only one match away from giving fans the final that everybody wants to see at this year's US Open.

Alcaraz bested Alexander Zverev to secure the semi-final of the US Open, and he's now only one match away from making the final. Novak Djokovic is in the same situation as his win over Taylor Fritz sent him to the other semi-final.

Alcaraz will face Medvedev for a spot in the final and, if he wins, will do his part. Djokovic plays Shelton, and he'll try to do his part and give fans the final that everybody hoped for. It's likely the best one we could get, considering how well both are playing, and it's the final Alcaraz wants as well.

Well, obviously it's closer than the beginning of the tournament. That's obviously, you know, we just one match from that potential final. It would be great to play a final against Novak here in New York, but we, well, both of us have really tough semifinal, so let's see. But obviously both of us are looking for that potential final.

Alcaraz was in this exact situation a year ago when he was trying to make his maiden Grand Slam final. A lot has changed since then; he's a two-time Grand Slam champion now and is playing in his 4th Grand Slam semi-final.

Well, I think I'm more mature now. I grew up a lot since last year. Last year I was facing my first semifinal of a Grand Slam. Now I'm facing my fourth one. I feel like I'm a totally different player. I feel like I'm more mature. I deal Yeah, I feel like I'm different, different person and different player.

He certainly looks like that when you watch him play and the result seem to back that up as well.
