2023 Morocco Open Rabat WTA Entry List - Sakkari, Fernandez, Stephens & more

From May 21st to 27th players will use a chance to prepare for the 2nd major of the year at the 2023 Morocco Open in Rabat.

The WTA 250 event, which is also called the Rabat Grand Prix or the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem because of sponsorship reasons, is a tournament that was held in four different cities since it started back in 2001 in Casablanca but since 2016, it has its home in Rabat.

As a last event ahead of the Roland Garros, it presents players with a great chance to earn some valuable ranking points ahead of the clay-court Grand Slam, and quite a few choose to do that as the entry list features some interesting names as always.

The only player from the Top 10 of the WTA Rankings that will compete at the Club des Cheminots is Maria Sakkari. The only other Top 20 player is the defending champion Martina Trevisan who will come to defend her title in 2023.

But then, the entry list includes many interesting names. The 2017 US Open champion, Sloane Stephens, the 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez, and the 2012 Roland Garros finalist Sara Errani will all compete in Rabat.

But they will see a lot of competition from the youngsters on the WTA Tour. Alycia Parks and Linda Fruhvirtova, both rising stars, are set to travel to Morocco and they will be joined also by the likes of Mayar Sherif, who had a great week recently in Madrid, reaching the quarterfinals.
