The 2023 Dubai Championships is the first WTA 1000 event in the calendar and it's held from February 19-25 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
The past champions include Belinda Bencic, Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza and Jelena Ostapenko, and there's a big chance that a new champion will be crowned in 2023. World no. 1, Iga Swiatek, should be the highest-seeded player at the event.
The young Pole will be joined by a big field of contenders such as Jessica Pegula, Caroline Garcia and Aryna Sabalenka. 18-year-old Coco Gauff will try to win her first big title as she's also one of the favourites.
But the entry list includes many more title contenders. Maria Sakkari, Daria Kasatkina, Veronika Kudermetova, and Madison Keys are all capable of making deep runs at big events.
There will be also some former Grand Slam champions present in Dubai, such as Elena Rybakina, Bianca Andreescu, Victoria Azarenka, Jelena Ostapenko, Petra Kvitova, and Barbora Krejcikova.
