The 2022 Strasbourg Open is inching closer and the event running from May 15th till May 21st will feature a strong entry list headlined by Karolina Pliskova, Angelique Kerber and more interesting players.
The tennis event in Strasbourg has been going on for a while, from 1987 to be precise and the 2022 edition will be the 36th edition overall. Last year's clay event was won by Barbora Krejcikova and she wanted to return this year to try and defend her title. However, the Czech player has been out for a while and she withdrew also from this event as she was replaced by Karolina Pliskova who received a wild-card. Alongside the tournament in Strasbourg, fans will see players in action also at the 2022 Morocco Open.
Sorana Cirstea is the player that Krejcikova defeated in the final 6-3 6-3 and the Romanian will also be back to try and win it this time around. Those two are obviously not the only top players that will play at the event as we will also see Angelique Kerber who is another player that took a wild-card.
Other players include Elise Mertens who will try to finally string together a good run on clay. Sloane Stephens will also try and prove her clay prowess as well as other solid clay courters that will take part at the event.
