Mirra Andreeva is bringing the Roland Garros magic to Wimbledon eliminating a former Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejcikova in the second round.

Mirra Andreeva is playing some exciting tennis at Wimbledon despite admitting some struggles on the surface. The Russian won three matches to book a spot in the main draw and she's following that up with some amazing performances in the main draw.

After winning her opening match in three sets, Andreeva produced an even better effort to take down Krejcikova in two sets. The second set wasn't played fully as Krejcikova struggled with an injury which prevented her from playing her best tennis. She was on her way to a heavy defeat anyway being down 4-0 in the second set.

The Czech player took a medical timeout after the first set and then another one in the second set but opted to continue the match. Even so, Andreeva was cruising past her opponent rather comfortably leading 6-3 4-0 at the time of the retirement. The Russian demonstrated her quickness around the court which frustrated her opponent greatly.

Krejcikova tried to outhit Andreeva but couldn't do it as the Russian was on every ball. 15 unforced errors in the first set and 7 unforced errors in the second set demonstrated well how much Krejcikova struggled with her opponent.

If she was fully healthy she might have put in a better effort as she was favoured. Andreeva is a tennis prodigy, one that could be the leading player on the WTA Tour in years to come, but this was her first major event on grass and it's not expected that she goes that deeply. She's in the 3rd round now so who knows what might happen.

It's been a huge breakout for the youngster after some performances at the Madrid Open along with the Roland Garros run and now Wimbledon. She will face either Anastasia Potapova or Kaja Juvan in the next round of the event.
