Carlos Alcaraz founds himself in a unique situation at the 2023 Wimbledon which was the consequence of many factors such as the weather.
The Spaniard began his Wimbledon campaign on Tuesday with a confident win and generally, he would play his second-round match today, on Thursday, with one day off. He won't play today but rather on Friday and that's because of a combination of several factors.
The main factor was the rain that delayed play at the event for two days. The more troublesome one was Tuesday which saw only a handful of matches played that day. One of them was the match of Alcaraz who, as the top seed, got the chance to play on one of the two roofed courts at the event.
Because of that, Alcaraz was able to finish his round one matchup, something that other players in his section didn't get to do. In fact, none of his potential round three opponents have even finished their first round match which would have given Alcaraz quite an advantage.
He would be in the 3rd round while his potential opponents would only have gotten their 1st round match done. Obviously, organizers made the call to not allow that pushing Alcaraz's match one day later so all the players from that section end up playing their second-round matches on the same day.
Alcaraz will have an advantage either way as he will now have two days before his next match though sometimes in a competitive format like this too much off time can be more detrimental than anything else.
He's been quite confident about his level lately even declaring that his next match against Djokovic won't be like the previous one. Fans are hoping to see the match up at Wimbledon as it would be quite huge.
