'Win the Tournament': Alcaraz Confident After Convincing Wimbledon Opener

Carlos Alcaraz didn't need a lot of time on the Wimbledon courts to leave an impression and the Spaniard left a huge one.

Carlitos arrived in London without his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero ready to play some grass tennis at the Cinch Championships. He didn't seem too confident in his overall level on grass but quickly found his footing on the surface with some solid performances.

By the end of the ATP 500 event, Alcaraz was extremely confident in his level as he bested de Minaur to win his maiden grass trophy at the event. Despite the win, Alcaraz expectedly conceded the favourite mantle to Novak Djokovic.

Both of them were scheduled to appear at the Hurlingham exhibition and while Djokovic did play Alcaraz pulled out of both matches. Fans were worried whether some pain he felt in the Queen's final was the reason but he reassured everybody that he was healthy enough.

There was very little doubt when he stepped onto the court to face Chardy as he smashed the French player in what was his final tennis match ever. After the match, Alcaraz expectedly oozed with confidence declaring that he want to win the event.

To win the tournament. That's the main goal right now for me. I have a lot of confidence right now. The main goal for me this tournament is to win, to win it (smiling).

Doubting him would, of course, be foolish but there is a reason Djokovic won the event seven times so far. Andy Murray is the only player to have ever beaten him on a grass court out of the 127 taking part in the event this year along with the Serb.

Alcaraz admitted before the grass season that beating the Serbian on grass is tougher than on other surfaces but his confidence is rising with every match and who could blame him?
