Carlos Alcaraz was very hyped up at Roland Garros when he went against Novak Djokovic however it backfired on him.
And that's something that won't happen if they meet at Wimbledon according to the Spaniard. Carlos Alcaraz was very confident about a month ago at Roland Garros and he got his wish to face Novak Djokovic for a spot in the final. The Serbian outsmarted Alcaraz who ultimately flamed out under the pressure of losing the match in a very anticlimactic fashion.
The Spaniard didn't shy away from admitting that he flamed out under the pressure though he reassured everybody that he will learn from the experience. He might get a chance again at Wimbledon and he's quite confident that things would be quite different times time around.
As I said, the main reason that I had cramp in the semifinal was the tension that I had facing Novak in the semifinal of a Grand Slam. I'm sure the experience is really important part on that.
I think I learned a lot from that match to the next time I'm going to face Novak. It's going to be different for me. I'm going to deal the pressure better than I did in the semifinal of French Open.
Obviously, we won't know until they face again in a high-stakes match though we might not need to wait too long. Alcaraz is determined to end the dominance of Djokovic at Wimbledon and it would certainly be a rather interesting matchup should we get it.
Handling the pressure has been a concern for Alcaraz in the past. He's admitted a few times that he handled it badly though realistically he's handling it far better than the overwhelming majority of players. Sure it pales compared to some of the best ever but that's a tall order anyways. Having Juan Carlos Ferrero in his corner certainly helps.
Yeah, all I talk with Juan Carlos is that, is the pressure, is the tension. I can't play with that tension. As I said, it's going to be different the next time.
