Nick Kyrgios is a proud Aussie but he did not play that often for the country in either the ATP Cup or the Davis Cup.

His recent resurgence on the professional tour and a more serious commitment to tennis has gotten many back on his side. One of those is Lleyton Hewitt who has always been very positive about Kyrgios and his tennis. The Australian team has high ambitions in competitions like the Davis Cup and ATP Cup and having Kyrgios there would be great.

The roster is already pretty strong with De Minaur, Kokkinakis, and Wimbledon doubles champions Ebden and Purcell so adding Kyrgios on top of that would be ideal. Hewitt confirmed as much in a recent interview stating they would love to have him.

"We'd absolutely love to have him playing for us. We're a much stronger side if he's available and can play for us. And he's an option for singles and doubles matches, which is important in this format."

Hewitt also confirmed that he spoke to Kyrgios after his Wimbledon final loss confirming that he's gutted about the loss. He also offered words of encouragement.

"Deep down he's still pretty disappointed to come so close but not win. But as I told him, he should be extremely proud of the performances over the last two weeks and throughout the whole grass-court season."

"Everyone knows the kind of firepower and game style that he has and what he's capable of doing. He just has to go out there and keep believing in himself," concluded Hewitt.
