Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkianks are the first-seeded team at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo and they showed that they came to win the title already in round one.
The Australian duo took on Yoshihito Nishioka and Kaichi Uchida from Japan. Although the home wild-cards were supported by crowd in Tokyo, it wasn't enough to show any resistance to the 2022 Australian Open doubles champion, Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis.
All four players already played their singles matches at the 2022 Japan Open and this year's Wimbledon finalist was the only one to succeed. In the first set of the match, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis started with a bang and didn't give their opponents any chance to respond.
They broke Nishioka and Uchida twice and after only 21 minutes, they won the first set 6-1. In the second set, the Australian duo stepped up the pace even more. They hit 7 aces and won 93% of points after their first serve.
Overall, they lost only two points while serving in the second set and once again they managed to get two breaks. Kyrgios and Kokkinakis used 4 out of 5 break point chances they got and that was also one of the main factors that led to their 6-1, 6-2 win in just 47 minutes.
In the second round of the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo, they will play against Spanish duo Pedro Martinez and Bernabe Zapata Miralles, who defeated Gonzalo Escobar and Nicolas Jarry in the first round.
