Novak Djokovic was supposed to team up with Jonathan Erlich at the 2022 Tel Aviv Open as the Israeli player is ending his career.

When the 2022 Tel Aviv Open was added into the ATP calendar, Jonathan Erlich knew it is a perfect chance for him to say goodbye to his professional tennis career. Former world number 5 and 2008 Australian Open doubles champion was set to team up with his friend Novak Djokovic, who he triumphed with at the Queen's Club in 2010.

In the first round of the competition, the experienced duo was set to face Sander Arends and Bart Stevens, but Erlich experienced an injury set back during a practice.

Therefore, Novak Djokovic and Jonathan Erlich withdrew from their first-round match only a few minutes before it was set to begin and so the 21-time Grand Slam champion can now focus on his singles tournament which will begin tomorrow against Pablo Andujar from Spain.
