Andrey Rublev is one of the players that is the loudest when sharing his opinions about ongoing war in Ukraine.
Earlier this year, the Russian tried to find solution and make it possible to play mixed doubles with Ukrainians at the Wimbledon. By doing so, Andrey Rublev wanted to promote that there is no war in tennis, but his plans were not successful as the All England Club didn't listen to his suggestions.
A few months later, Andrey Rublev came to Spain to compete at the 2022 Gijon Open where he started with a second-round victory against Belarusian Ilya Ivashka. However, he didn't focus only on his tennis in Spain as he tried to share yet another message, when he said:
“Of course it is hard and horrible to hear what is happening. As I have always said before, the most important thing is that there is peace in all parts of the world. From my position, the only thing I can do is try to show this through tennis, in interviews and on the court," Andrey Rublev said, according to AS.
