Alexander Bublik once famously said that he hated tennis and he was only playing it for the money but things are different now.

Alexander Bublik publicly declared three years ago that he only plays tennis for the money and detests the sport. Although it wasn't particularly novel—players like Kyrgios had already stated the same thing—Bublik took his initial statement quite seriously before doubling down on the comments later.

He stated that he would stop doing it as soon as he had enough money and since then, he has frequently played around with those remarks. Some of his admirers praised his openness, while others attacked him for his remarks. However, in a recent interview, Bublik acknowledged that circumstances had changed since then.

"It was not a joke that I said I play tennis for money because at that specific moment I was not enjoying what I was doing. But as time went by and it has been three years since that interview, things have changed a lot and I do enjoy playing tennis now." - explained Bublik as he vividly recalled observing himself in the mirror and daydreaming of competing in front of a large audience like Federer and Nadal did:

"I realised that this is what I wanted to do when I was a kid. When I was growing up I was standing in front of the mirror wearing Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer clothes dreaming of playing in arenas."
