Grigor Dimitrov was robbed of a 70,000 euro watch in Barcelona, but his spirits remain unshaken as he prepares for the ATP 500 tournament.

As the anticipation for the 2023 Barcelona Open reaches fever pitch, the tennis world was left reeling from the news of a shocking off-court incident in Barcelona, involving Dimitrov. While in Barcelona for the ATP 500 clay-court tournament, Dimitrov fell victim to a brazen theft, in which his high-end watch, worth 70,000 euros, was stolen right off his wrist.

The robbery transpired on Sarriá Avenue as Dimitrov returned from a training session. Unbeknownst to him, thieves on a motorcycle were lying in wait. They adjusted his vehicle's rear-view mirror, prompting Dimitrov to momentarily let down his guard. Seizing the opportunity, the criminals deftly snatched his luxury timepiece.

Despite the harrowing ordeal, Dimitrov admirably kept his cool and proceeded to report the crime at a nearby Mossos police station. While the perpetrators are still at large and the stolen watch remains unaccounted for, authorities have reason to believe that professional Neapolitan thieves are behind the heinous act. These criminals may be targeting the city due to the surge of tourists attending the high-profile tennis tournament.

As the 2023 Barcelona Open unfolds from April 17th to 23rd, players and spectators alike are encouraged to exercise caution while partaking in the tennis festivities.

Determined to put the incident behind him, Dimitrov is ready to take on his opponents in the tournament. He will face the winner of the match between Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Emilio Gomez. In a recent statement, Dimitrov expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying:

"Thank you everyone for the kind messages the last couple of days. The most important thing is I wasn't harmed and I am ready to compete this week in Barcelona."
