Fans in the Middle East can look forward to another exciting tennis event after the draw for the 2025 Dubai Championships has been released.
Tennis fans in the Middle East got to enjoy almost a month of exciting tennis. It all started with the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha, continued by the ATP 500 event in the same city and a WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai.
After women concluded their week in Dubai with Mirra Andreeva's win, it's time for men to play their ATP 500 tournament in Dubai. The tournament is officially called the 2025 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, and it will be played from February 24th until March 1st.
Daniil Medvedev is the top seed in Dubai, and he will want to finally find some solid form. He reached the quarter-finals at the Qatar Open, but he was forced to withdraw from his match against Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The Russian player will play against Jan Lennard Struff in the first round of the tournament, as there are no byes for the seeded players. There are also no easy draws at the ATP 500 events, which the second-seeded Alex de Minaur got to experience as well.
He will play against Marin Cilic, who used his protected ranking to enter the event. The 2014 US Open champion will try to record some wins on his comeback, but the draws have been ruthless to him so far. He was drawn against Carlos Alcaraz in Doha.
Andrey Rublev enjoyed a brilliant week in Doha. He won the title after beating Jack Draper in the final, but this time, the two can meet already in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Rublev will start against one of the qualifiers, and Draper will too. If both win their first two matches, they will play against each other again. Grigor Dimitrov is another player who will play against a qualifier in the first round.
The fourth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas will face a challenging draw, taking on Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of the tournament.
There will also be many, many great first-round matches. For example, Daniel Evans will play against Karen Khachanov, and Gael Monfils will clash with Matteo Berrettini.
But there will be many more matches that fans will have a chance to enjoy during the first week of the event. For example, Alexander Bublik will take on Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Fabian Marozsan will take on Roberto Bautista Agut.
